19th century

For this blogi chose to do monet ice floes. I chose this piece because even though his work is bascially stippling with paints this one seemed very simple. It has a calming effect to it but also has a kind of edgy feel as well. i say that it feels edgy because it has like a mysterious feel and that there might be more going on you just cant see it. all in all i really enjoy looking at this piece. i love that if you zoom in he uses stippling, i find that amazing and dont understand or get why he does it but he manages to make it work. i also like how even though he has some reds, orangees and yellows in there they still feel like cool colors adn that the painting has a cool feel to it.

The blog #two

This isn't one of the pieces we went over in class but I found it interesting. What drew me to this was that it was a tripdic. Just the whole idea of a story being told in different panels interests me. In the left panel I think it shows a saint and the pope at the time, in the center panel it shows Mary and Jesus, and the last panel shows Jesus on the cross and Mary showing her sadness. Over all the colors are strong and have a certain feel to them that I believe makes you look closer and bring you in more. And now just so you know this piece was stolen from Italy in 1971 and later found in Kentucky. Just so you know.
